The TCGplayer app is the most used in the United States for scanning cards and checking prices, and plenty of people on this side of the Atlantic have it too. It does not export straight to a file: it emails each list. With one tweak to the format, that email carries a CSV that TCGJoin reads without edits, with Cardmarket prices in euros on the other side.
What you need
- The TCGplayer app with your lists (Collection).
- Access to your email on the same phone or on a computer.
- A TCGJoin account (the free one is fine).
Get the file out of the TCGplayer app
- In the app open the list (Collection) and tap ⋮ → “Send via Email”.
- Before sending, in Settings → Email Export pick CSV and enable the “TCGplayer ID” and “Product ID” columns.
- Email it to yourself, download the attached CSV and upload it to TCGJoin.
Those two columns help identify each card without doubt, but they are not essential: it also works without “Product ID”, because the importer uses the set code and the card number. If you have several lists, repeat the email for each one.
Upload it to TCGJoin
With the file at hand, open your collection and tap “Import”. The same wizard lives in Profile › Settings › “Import my collection”. It takes four steps:
- Source: pick “TCGplayer” and the game of the list if asked.
- File: upload it as is (CSV, TSV, TXT or JSON, up to 20 MB). No need to open or tidy it first.
- Review: every row lands in a group. Found (matched with no doubt by set and number), unsure (several printings share that name: pick one or accept the suggestion), not found, and skipped (proxies, quantity 0 or a game outside your plan).
- Import: choose whether to add to what you already have or keep the file quantity, and hit the button.
If something looks off, the import can be undone for 7 days, from the final screen or from Profile › Settings. It removes exactly the copies it added and leaves what you already owned untouched.
What comes across and what does not
From the TCGplayer CSV the importer uses what identifies the card and how many you own. Dollar prices are not imported: on TCGJoin the collection is valued with its own reference price. The rest stays in the file for now:
- Comes across: the exact card (set and number when the file has them), the quantity and the language of each copy.
- Not yet: condition (NM, LP…), foil and purchase price. Copies arrive as non-foil; keep the original file if you care about those details.
- Common plan: one active game. If the file mixes games, cards from the others are skipped and the review tells you which. Importing is free on every plan.
- Nothing you already had is overwritten: by default quantities are added.
If something is not found
“Not found” rows are the ones that do not match the catalogue with the data in the file: they tend to be sealed products (not cards), US-only promos, cards from games we do not carry yet or rows without a number. In the review, tap “Download the not found rows (CSV)” to keep the list. Then run them through the scanner (for Pokémon or for Magic; the same one works for the other games): point the camera and they go into the collection one by one, with their exact printing. If it is your first time, the guide on how to scan cards with your phone covers it in two minutes.
If a whole column is the problem (the review flags the columns it did not understand), tell us from the suggestions box in the help bubble and we will add it.
With the list in, your collection gives you its value and what you are missing set by set, with a hub for Pokémon, Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh!. The rest of the supported apps are on Import collection.
