Konami wrapped up its toughest Forbidden & Limited List in thirteen years at YCS Houston: 34 cards out, 8 limited and one semi-limited. It applies to the TCG from October 19.

The new Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden & Limited List is live. From Monday, October 19, 2026, the TCG format (the one played in Europe and the Americas) loses 34 cards, cuts 8 more to a single copy and moves one up to semi-limited. Konami teased it on October 14 on its official TCG account, "to prep for Magnificent Maestros", and revealed it in five batches during YCS Houston, from Friday 16 to Sunday 18.

By YGOrganization's count, it is the largest update since September 2013. Konami has not explained the changes card by card: its posts on the official blog only list them and give the date.

Which cards are forbidden

The biggest hit lands on generic staples, the cards that fit almost any deck: Called by the Grave, Crossout Designator and Triple Tactics Talent go from 3 to 0. Long-standing Extra Deck monsters are gone too, such as Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir.

Today's top decks lose key pieces (Elfnote Tinia, Azamina Ilia Silvia, Albion the Branded Dragon, Magicians' Souls), and most floodgates, the cards that lock your opponent out, are gone: Anti-Spell Fragrance, Gozen Match, Rivalry of Warlords, There Can Be Only One and both Amorphage monsters.

Limited, semi-limited and Magnificent Maestros

Down to one copy: Droll & Lock Bird, Griffoh, Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max, Branded In High Spirits, Branded Opening, Toon Bookmark, Toon Table of Contents and Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon. That last one is not out in the TCG yet: Konami says its limit applies from its release in Magnificent Maestros on November 11, while Konami's European site lists the set for November 12. Sky Striker Mobilize - Engage! moves to semi-limited.

Konami posts the full official list in its card database. If you are playing a tournament this week, check your deck against it before you register.

What it means for your collection

A ban does not erase a card's collector value, but it does remove demand from people buying it to play. High-rarity printings have the most to lose: the Rarity Collection 5 Ultra Rare of Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon was at US$84.29 on TCGplayer on October 18, according to our catalog. If you own copies of the affected cards, check what they are worth today in your collection before you buy or sell, and browse the card lists and prices for every Yu-Gi-Oh! set.
