How to move your ManaBox collection to TCGJoin: export a CSV and import it in four steps

This article was drafted by an artificial intelligence system and reviewed by the TCGJoin editorial team before publication. It may contain errors: double-check prices, dates and rules before acting on it.

ManaBox exports your Magic collection to CSV in three taps and TCGJoin reads it as is: how to do it, what comes across and what to do with anything not found.

ManaBox is one of the most popular apps for scanning and tracking a Magic collection on your phone. If you also want it on TCGJoin, with its value in euros, the set-by-set album and the scanner, there is no need to go through it card by card again: ManaBox exports the collection to CSV and the TCGJoin importer understands it without any edits.

What you need

  • The ManaBox app with your collection in it.
  • A TCGJoin account (the free one is fine).
  • Somewhere to keep the file for a moment: Files, Drive or your email.

Get the file out of ManaBox

  1. Open ManaBox and go to Collection.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu top right → Export → CSV.
  3. Save the file (Files, Drive or email). That is the one you will upload to TCGJoin.

The ManaBox CSV is one of the most complete around: every row carries the set code, the collector number and the Scryfall ID of the card. With that the importer gets the exact printing almost every time, including alternate-art and extended-art versions.

Upload it to TCGJoin

With the file at hand, open your collection and tap “Import”. The same wizard lives in Profile › Settings › “Import my collection”. It takes four steps:

  1. Source: pick “ManaBox”.
  2. File: upload it as is (CSV, TSV, TXT or JSON, up to 20 MB). No need to open or tidy it first.
  3. Review: every row lands in a group. Found (matched with no doubt by set and number), unsure (several printings share that name: pick one or accept the suggestion), not found, and skipped (proxies, quantity 0 or a game outside your plan).
  4. Import: choose whether to add to what you already have or keep the file quantity, and hit the button.

If something looks off, the import can be undone for 7 days, from the final screen or from Profile › Settings. It removes exactly the copies it added and leaves what you already owned untouched.

What comes across and what does not

From the ManaBox CSV the importer uses what identifies the card and how many you own. The rest stays in the file for now:

  • Comes across: the exact card (set and number when the file has them), the quantity and the language of each copy.
  • Not yet: condition (NM, LP…), foil and purchase price. Copies arrive as non-foil; keep the original file if you care about those details.
  • Common plan: one active game. If the file mixes games, cards from the others are skipped and the review tells you which. Importing is free on every plan.
  • Nothing you already had is overwritten: by default quantities are added.

If something is not found

“Not found” rows are the ones that do not match the catalogue with the data in the file: usually a very rare promo, a card from a set we do not have complete yet or a Scryfall ID that has changed. In the review, tap “Download the not found rows (CSV)” to keep the list. Then run them through the Magic card scanner: point the camera and they go into the collection one by one, with their exact printing. If it is your first time, the guide on how to scan cards with your phone covers it in two minutes.

If a whole column is the problem (the review flags the columns it did not understand), tell us from the suggestions box in the help bubble and we will add it.

With everything in, your collection works out its value with Cardmarket prices and you can keep adding cards from the scanner or from the page of every Magic set. Everything the importer can do, with the rest of the supported apps, is on Import collection, and the Magic hub on TCGJoin brings together prices, decks and news.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a paid ManaBox plan to export?

The CSV export sits in the ManaBox collection menu. If your version does not show it, update the app; on TCGJoin importing is free on every plan.

Do I lose anything in ManaBox by exporting?

No. Exporting only writes a copy to a file: your collection stays as it is in ManaBox and you can keep using both apps.

What if I import the same file twice?

With “Add to what I already have” the quantities would double. To repeat without duplicates choose “Keep the file quantity”, or undo the first import: you can for 7 days.

Are foils and condition kept?

Not yet. The exact card, the quantity and the language come across; foil, condition and purchase price stay in your CSV.
