How to move your Moxfield collection to TCGJoin: the Collection CSV and, if you like, your decks

This article was drafted by an artificial intelligence system and reviewed by the TCGJoin editorial team before publication. It may contain errors: double-check prices, dates and rules before acting on it.

Moxfield keeps your Magic collection on the web and exports it to CSV. Here is how to bring it to TCGJoin, and how to paste a deck list in the “4 Lightning Bolt (M21) 159” format.

Moxfield is the go-to place for building Magic decks, Commander above all, and plenty of people keep their collection there too. TCGJoin reads the CSV that Moxfield produces, so you can have the collection in both places without typing a thing: on TCGJoin you will see its value in euros, set by set, with the phone scanner for whatever comes in next.

What you need

  • Your Moxfield account with the collection loaded (done from the browser).
  • A TCGJoin account (the free one is fine).
  • If you only want a deck and not the collection: the deck list copied.

Get the file out of Moxfield

  1. On moxfield.com open Collection.
  2. Click Export and choose CSV. If Export is not in sight, it sits inside the collection’s “More” menu.
  3. A file downloads: that is the one you will upload to TCGJoin.

The Moxfield CSV carries quantity, name, set, collector number and language for every card, which is exactly what the importer needs to get the printing right.

Only want a deck? In the wizard choose “Paste a list” and paste the text exactly as it comes out of Moxfield or Arena, one card per line: “4 Lightning Bolt (M21) 159”. “4x Card name” works too.

Upload it to TCGJoin

With the file at hand, open your collection and tap “Import”. The same wizard lives in Profile › Settings › “Import my collection”. It takes four steps:

  1. Source: pick “Moxfield”.
  2. File: upload it as is (CSV, TSV, TXT or JSON, up to 20 MB). No need to open or tidy it first.
  3. Review: every row lands in a group. Found (matched with no doubt by set and number), unsure (several printings share that name: pick one or accept the suggestion), not found, and skipped (proxies, quantity 0 or a game outside your plan).
  4. Import: choose whether to add to what you already have or keep the file quantity, and hit the button.

If something looks off, the import can be undone for 7 days, from the final screen or from Profile › Settings. It removes exactly the copies it added and leaves what you already owned untouched.

What comes across and what does not

From the Moxfield CSV the importer uses what identifies the card and how many you own. The rest stays in the file for now:

  • Comes across: the exact card (set and number when the file has them), the quantity and the language of each copy.
  • Not yet: condition (NM, LP…), foil and purchase price. Copies arrive as non-foil; keep the original file if you care about those details.
  • Common plan: one active game. If the file mixes games, cards from the others are skipped and the review tells you which. Importing is free on every plan.
  • Nothing you already had is overwritten: by default quantities are added.

If something is not found

“Not found” rows are the ones that do not match the catalogue with the data in the file: they tend to be cards from special lists, tokens, Arena-only cards that do not exist on paper or a set code that does not match. In the review, tap “Download the not found rows (CSV)” to keep the list. Then run them through the Magic card scanner: point the camera and they go into the collection one by one, with their exact printing. If it is your first time, the guide on how to scan cards with your phone covers it in two minutes.

If a whole column is the problem (the review flags the columns it did not understand), tell us from the suggestions box in the help bubble and we will add it.

With the collection in, your collection on TCGJoin tells you what it is worth and what you are missing from each set, and the decks section helps you see what you can build with what you already own. The rest of the supported apps are on Import collection, and everything Magic is in the Magic hub.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import a Moxfield deck instead of the collection?

Yes. Copy the deck list and, in the wizard, choose “Paste a list”. It goes into your collection as cards you own.

Do I lose anything in Moxfield by exporting?

No. Exporting only writes a copy to a file: your collection stays as it is in Moxfield and you can keep using both apps.

What if I import the same file twice?

With “Add to what I already have” the quantities would double. To repeat without duplicates choose “Keep the file quantity”, or undo the first import: you can for 7 days.

Are tags and the tradelist imported?

No. The card, quantity and language come across; tags, tradelist, foil, condition and purchase price stay in the CSV.
