Is it for you?

You collected in the 90s and want that shoebox of cards back to life.

You want to play League without dropping €400 on a netdeck blind.

You play with family and need legal lists fast.

Scan your Pokémon cards with your phone

Photograph the card and AI identifies it: set, number, and variant — reverse holos, promos, and Japanese cards included. It lands in your collection with its reference price and its slot in the set’s progress. How the scanner works, and the tricks for first-try scans.

A mid-sized collection goes in over one afternoon, working in same-set batches. And every card is photo-confirmed: you know what you actually own, not what you remember owning. If you record your matches, the analyzer reads which cards each player put down and on which turn: here is how to record so it reads the whole game.

What your Pokémon cards are worth

Every scanned card carries its European market reference price (Cardmarket), built for sorting the collection and spotting what deserves a proper appraisal. Your collection’s total value computes and updates itself.

And since every set has its own page with the cost of completing it and its priciest cards, you can decide with numbers whether to close Base Set or sell your 151 gaps. More on the pricing page.

Pokémon TCG in 5 concepts

Before your first deck. No manuals.

Energy: Each attack costs energy of a type. Attach one per turn.

Basics and evolutions: Start with Basics. Need the previous Pokémon in play to evolve.

Active and bench: Only the Active attacks. The other 5 wait on the bench.

Prizes: Draw your 6 Prize cards by KO. Pokémon ex give 2 prizes.

Trainers: Support, items and stadium. Learning them separates tiers.

Active formats

TCGJoin validates your lists automatically.

Standard (Official · tournaments): Last ~2 years of cards. Rotates each autumn. The League and Regionals format.

Expanded (Casual · NA): From Black & White onwards. More options, more explosive decks.

GLC (Community): Singleton, one energy type, no ex/V/GX. Community-built casual format.

Standard tier list

Top archetypes of the current meta.

Updated on Sep 9, 2026

Dragapult ex — Tier S · Spread / Dragon — Spreads damage across the bench every turn and closes with double Prizes. A third of the meta.

Basic Box — Tier A · Toolbox / Basics — Basic Pokémon only, with many different attackers: cheap to build and hard to read.

Alakazam — Tier A · Control / Psychic — Powerful Hand scales damage with a full hand. Punishes poor resource management.

N's Zoroark ex — Tier A · Toolbox / Dark — Copies attacks from the bench and adapts to any matchup.

Indicative · cross-checked with Limitless and Regionals

Frequently asked

How much to start seriously?

A Standard deck runs €150-300. To start: Battle Decks (€15-20) or Pokémon TCG Live (free).

Where to play tournaments?

Weekly League at official stores. Regionals and Internationals on the official Pokémon site.

When does Standard rotate?

Each autumn. Blocks from ~2 years ago retire. TCGJoin flags cards losing legality.

Difference between ex, V, VMAX, VSTAR and GX?

Era mechanics. Current ex give 2 prizes when KOd — high risk, high reward.

How to value old collections?

TCGJoin scans with camera and prices at market (Cardmarket EU). Base Set and early holos can surprise.

Is TCGJoin free?

Yes: the free plan includes collection, scanner, set progress, and a daily AI quota — no expiry, no card required. Paid plans raise decks, AI, and stored photos.

Does it work with Japanese cards?

Yes — the Pokémon catalog covers English, Spanish, and Japanese. The card identifies the same way and links to its set.

Does it detect fakes?

No: it identifies which card it is, not print legitimacy. For that, use the manual checks in our fake card guide.
