What your Pokémon cards are worth — data, not hunches
The first Google result is almost never your card. Real value depends on set, number, variant, and condition — and TCGJoin identifies those for you.
Why the price you saw on Google isn’t your card’s
The same Pokémon exists across dozens of cards from different sets, each in several variants: regular, holo, reverse, first edition. Between the most common and the most sought-after there can be three zeros of difference. Before talking price you have to identify the exact card — which is precisely what the scanner does: set, number, and variant from one photo.
With the card identified, TCGJoin attaches its market reference price — built for sorting your collection: spotting what’s worth pennies and what deserves a detailed appraisal. The full valuation guide, condition and grading included, is in "How much is my Pokémon card worth".
The four details that decide the price
The expansion: the small symbol next to the number. Two sets, two unrelated prices.
The number (25/102 format): what separates your card from the rest of the set.
The variant: holo, reverse, promo, alt art. Most of the price gap lives here.
The condition: a pristine card and the same card with whitened edges are two different products.
From one card’s price to your whole collection’s value
Valuing five cards by hand works. Five hundred doesn’t. When you scan, every card comes in priced, so your collection’s estimated value computes itself and moves with the market. You know which cards hold the value — without opening a single box. If that’s what you’re after, see what your whole collection is worth.
You can also look at it by set: every Pokémon set has its own page with the estimated cost of completing it and its most valuable cards. Handy for deciding whether to finish a set or sell it as-is.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price shown what I’d get paid?
It’s a market reference, not an offer. A real sale depends on your copy’s condition and where you sell. Use the reference as an honest starting point, then check recent sold prices for expensive cards.
Where do the prices come from?
From market reference data updated periodically. For US sales, cross-check TCGPlayer sold listings; for Europe, Cardmarket averages — as our valuation guide explains.
Can I check prices without paying?
Yes. The free plan includes the scanner, your collection, and reference prices. No card required.
Does it value vintage cards?
Yes — the catalog reaches back to Base Set (1999). Vintage is exactly where the surprises are: late-nineties holos in decent shape can be worth far more than you think.
What about condition?
You record condition when saving the card (it’s the one detail no photo can decide for you). Reference prices assume near mint; a played copy is worth less.
