Moxfield alternative with AI: Magic decks built and checked for you

Moxfield is one of the most used Magic deck builders: 30+ formats, custom tags and collection tracking. What its site does not advertise is an AI that builds the deck for you. If that is what you are after, these are the alternatives.

What each one does best, which games it covers, whether it uses AI and whether it checks format legality.

Moxfield’s site would not load when we checked: anything its Patreon does not say is “not confirmed”. Price for Moxfield, Archidekt and EDHREC: their Patreon.

When to stick with Moxfield

If you already know which deck you want and need to build it, sort it and share it, Moxfield does that well and is free; its Patreon starts at €1 a month.

When to look elsewhere

You want an AI to build the whole deck from an idea (“mono-red in Pioneer for €60”): TCGJoin.

You play Commander and want an AI that reads your 99 and suggests changes: Farseek, which imports your deck from a Moxfield URL.

You want to see what most people play with your commander: EDHREC.

You also play Pokémon, One Piece or Lorcana: TCGJoin builds decks for all four on the same account.

How to bring your Moxfield deck to TCGJoin

Copy the decklist as text, create a deck in TCGJoin with “Paste a list” and open it in the Deck Coach: “make it cheaper”, “make it Pioneer-legal” or “what is its weak spot?”. Pasting the list does not use any AI tries. Your Moxfield collection imports separately as a CSV: import your collection.

What the Deck Coach checks in a Magic deck

Every card’s legality comes from Scryfall’s official list for the format you ask for: Standard, Commander, Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Premodern, Brawl or Oathbreaker. In Commander, 100 singleton cards within the commander’s color identity and, if the commander names its own type (dragons, elves…), at least 20 cards of that type. The cost is the sum of the cheapest legal printings at Cardmarket prices in euros. How it works under the hood: why a generic chatbot makes up cards.

Frequently asked questions

Does Moxfield have AI to build decks?

Its site does not advertise any as of the review date. Moxfield is a deck builder you fill in by hand, with 30+ formats.

What is the best Moxfield alternative with AI?

For Commander, Farseek, which reads your deck and suggests changes. To have the AI build the whole deck in any Magic format, or for Pokémon, One Piece and Lorcana too, TCGJoin.

Can I bring my Moxfield deck to TCGJoin?

Yes: copy the list as text and paste it when you create a deck in TCGJoin, without using AI. The Deck Coach then works on that deck. Your collection imports with Moxfield’s CSV.

Are the prices in euros?

In TCGJoin, yes: Cardmarket prices in euros. For Moxfield, we could not confirm on its site which store its prices come from.
